At 3:56pm. Suffolk County 911 received numerous calls for a house fire on Crystal Beach Boulevard in Moriches. One of the callers, who was calling from the Center Yacht Club and Marina on Old Neck Road in Center Moriches told 911 dispatchers that he was looking across creek to the west and could see black smoke from the garage of one of the houses.

Volunteer Firefighters from the Center Moriches Fire Department arrived on scene and found flames shooting 60 feet into the sky from the Crystal Beach Blvd house. The fire had completely consumed the 2 car garage, extended up the side of the house into the second floor living area of the house.

While Center Moriches Firefighters worked to extinguish the heavy fire conditions on the first and second floors of the home, additional assistance was requested from the East Moriches FD, Mastic FD and the Manorville FD. Eastport FD responded to the CMFD HQ to cover any additional alarms that were received.

The fire was under control in about an hour. Fire units remained on scene for several hours for extensive overhaul. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshalls Office and the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad.
