| Just after 5pm last night phone lines at Suffolk County 911 lit up with calls reporting a building fire on Main Street west of Railroad Avenue.
Center Moriches Chiefs arrived on scene to find heavy fire from the second floor windows of a 2 ½ story dwelling. Firefighters quickly went to work stretching hose lines and attacking the fire. Additional assistance was requested from the East Moriches FD for Rapid Intervention. Mastic and the Mastic Beach Fire Departments sent an engine with manpower to help out at the fire scene and cover any additional calls.
Firefighters were back in service approximately 2 1/2 hours later. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Brookhaven Town Fire Marshalls Office.
