Center Moriches Firefighters Assist In Search For Missing Person ...

Just before 2pm on Saturday Center Moriches firefighters were requested to join other east end Firefighters in the search for an elderly woman with dementia.

Firefighters are searching for Jean Tabor, 82, who lives in the Riverwoods Mobile Home Park on Riverleigh Avenue in Riverside who has been missing since Thursday.

Taber was last seen at about 4 p.m. Thursday walking her dog on County Road 104 south of the Riverwoods Mobile Home Park where she lives. She is five feet tall, 110 pounds, with red hair and hazel eyes. She was wearing a black vest, black dress and was walking her Cocker Spaniel. Taber has dementia and may appear confused and be in need of medical attention, according to State Police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the New York State Police Riverside barracks at 1-631-208-9002.

UPDATE - APRIL 6, 2014

The elderly Riverside woman missing since Thursday afternoon has been found dead in a N.Y. state conservation area near the mobile home park where she lived.

Jean Taber's body was found at about 3:40 this afternoon. Her dog was found at her side. The dog, a Cocker Spaniel named Freckles, is believed to be about 10 years old and was taken to a veterinarian for examination.
