Center Moriches FD Explorers Post 540 Hosts Installation And Awards Ceremony

The Center Moriches Fire Department Explorers recently held their Annual Installation and Awards Ceremony to honor the officers and members for their dedicated service to the community.

The Explorers program gives young men and women from the community the opportunity to learn about being a volunteer firefighter through training exercises and other social activities.

After Assistant Chief Schilling swears in the 2017 Officers certificates of appreciation were handed out to the 2016 Officers for their service during the past year.

Certificates of Merit were awarded to members with the highest point totals.

1st - John Gallo (95%)
2nd - Tyler Mansfield (94%)
3rd - Gavin Barnett (88%)

"Rookie of the Year" award was presented to Jeremy Masterson.

The final award of the afternoon was the Member of the Year award. The honor was awarded to Captain Tyler Mansfield. Captain Mansfield became the first two-time winner of the award.

The Advisors Committee would like to thank Chief Schilling and Commissioner Michael Schlosberg for attending the event, along with extending thanks to Company 1 Lieutenant Jim Vojik and Ladies Auxiliary member Midge Vojik for helping serve dinner.
