Just after 7pm on Sunday, Center Moriches Firefighters we requested to a house fire on the corner of Frowein Road and Bernstein Blvd.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof of the 2 story house.

While firefighters were fighting the house fire, firefighters also noticed a shed on the back of the property was also on fire.

Additional help was requested to the scene from the East, Moriches FD, Mastic FD and East Moriches Ambulance. Manorville Fd was requested to stand by at the Center Moriches firehouse to cover any additional calls.

It took firefighters just over 30 minutes to bring the fires under control.

There were no firefighter injuries reported. One police officer was transported to a local hospital with smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Suffolk County Police Arson Squad and the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshalls office.
