At 8:23 this morning Center Moriches firefighters responded to an auto accident with injuries in front of the bus company on Wading River Road between Brookfield Avenue and the South Service Road of Sunrise Highway.

While responding to the scene firefighters were updated that a car struck a pole and wires were down at the scene.

Firefighters and EMT’s arrived to find one car into a utility pole. With wires and transformers hanging just feet from the driver, emergency crews worked to safely remove the driver from the vehicle. The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Wading River Road was closed for several hours while the utility company replaced the damaged pole.
