Just after 4pm on Friday Center Moriches Firefighters and EMT’s were requested to an auto accident with injuries at the intersection of Montauk Highway and Wilcox Road.

Firefighters arrived to find a cement truck on the side of the road and a Corvette stuck under the front of the cement truck.

The cement truck, originally traveling east on Montauk Highway struck the LIRR overpass that crosses that area. After striking the overpass, the cement truck veered into oncoming traffic striking the Corvette and dragging it off the side of the road.

The driver of the corvette was assisted out of his vehicle by a bystander and was found by the side of his vehicle by firefighters.

While EMT’s and Paramedics tended to the occupants of both vehicles’ firefighters worked to secure a fuel spill from the cement truck.

The drivers of both vehicles were transported to the hospital for further evaluation of their injuries.

Firefighters were back in service within 30 minutes.

Montauk Highway was shut down in both directions while Suffolk Police investigate the accident.
