3 Injured After Accident Results In Car Fire On Sunrise Highway

At 6:44am Tuesday morning Center Moriches firefighters and EMT were requested to an auto accident with injuries on Sunrise Highway west bound just west of the Moriches Middle Island Road overpass.

While responding to the scene firefighters were advised that one of the vehicles involved in the accident was on fire. Firefighters arrived to find one vehicle into the woods fully involved in flames. The driver of the vehicle was able to escape with minor injuries prior to it going up in flame.

While firefighters worked to extinguish the car fire EMT’s and Paramedics from the Center Moriches FD Ambulance treated and transported 3 occupants from 2 separate vehicles to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Firefighters were back in service within 30 minutes.
