CMFD Members Visit KME Factory …

Several members of the Center Moriches FD made the trip to KME Fire Apparatus Manufacturer in Pennsylvania for a pre-inspection of the new Engine 5-4-2. CMFD members met with KME department heads responsible for the work and discussed such things as equipment placement, lighting & electrical systems components, and painting options. Over the past few weeks KME fabricated the custom body of the truck and mounted it on an International 4WD chassis. As the engine nears completion it will go through several days of electrical and pump testing before it's ready to be delivered to the Center Moriches Fire Department in mid April 2010. Members of the Center Moriches Fire Department were also given a tour of the KME's 7 manufacturing plants were they were able to see fire trucks being built from the ground up. The trip was very productive, and CMFD members were pleased with all of the work completed so far.
