| At 7:52 pm the Center Moriches Fire Department was dispatched to the Senix Marina for a reported boat fire. Witnesses stated they looked across the marina and saw smoke coming from a boat. When they ran over they found the 26' boat on fire in the slip. Bystanders grabbed a garden hose that was on the dock and tried to put the fire out.
When the Fire Department arrived on scene, the crew from Engine 2 boarded the boat and entered the cabin area where they were met by smoke and heat. Flames in the cabin were quickly knocked down as firefighters checked for further extension of the fire.
There were no injuries reported and no other boats were damaged by the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Suffolk County Arson Squad. |
