| At 2:43am Center Moriches Firefighters were requested to the scene of auto accident with wires down in front of the Montauk Bus Company on Wading River Road.
Units arrived on scene to find a single vehicle into a utility pole. The impact of the vehicle sheared the utility pole at the base and the pole with live wires came crashing down on the roof of the vehicle.
Suffolk County Police called in a K9 unit to help search for the occupant of the vehicle who fled the scene of the accident.
Wading River road was closed for several hours between Brookfield Ave & Sunrise Hwy while LIPA crews replaced the broken pole. Firefighters were back in service within 45 minutes. |
