| "One Mission. One Team" is the 2013 theme, reflecting the idea that EMS personnel don't choose this field for big salaries, comfortable working conditions or a nine to five-hour job. They have a true calling to help and care for others in their hour of need. This week and all year long, we owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of EMS professionals across the nation. These individuals are true public servants who commit their lives to aiding our residents in times of crisis and emergency. The brave men and women who volunteer their time with the Center Moriches Fire Department EMS are the first ones on scene of a disaster, a motor vehicle crash or other event that may place them in a hazardous environment. It is important that we take the time to honor these front line medical responders for often going above and beyond the call of duty to save lives, while risking their own. The Volunteer Members of the Center Moriches Fire Department work diligently, year round, to provide the highest quality care and services available to our community. In 2012, the Center Moriches Fire Department responded to a total of 1,426 calls for service, with 992 of those responses requesting emergency medical services. Currently, the Center Moriches Fire Department has two Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulances and staffs one ALS Paramedic First Responder 24 hours a day. The Center Moriches Fire Department is proud of our EMS providers and the services they provide to our community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As the Nation celebrates National EMS week we would like to say "Thank You" to all of our department members for the hard work, dedication and service you give to the community. |
