At 8:19pm on Saturday Center Moriches EMT’s were requested to assist the East Moriches Community Ambulance at the scene of a 2 car auto accident on Sunrise Highway at County Road 51 in Eastport.

According to Suffolk County Police, shortly after 8pm a Ford Expedition was heading west on Sunrise Highway when it drove off the road into the eastbound lanes where it crashed into another vehicle.

The driver of the Expedition was airlifted by police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. Center Moriches EMT’s treated and transported one of the injured to local hospital with minor injuries.

All lanes of Sunrise Highway was shut down for hours while Suffolk County police conducted their investigation.
