Just before 3pm Center Moriches Firefighters were requested to a fire along Montauk Hwy by the LIRR overpass.

Firefighters arrived on scene and found a brush fire burning along the tracks just east of the overpass.

To ensure the safety of the firefighters a call was immediately placed to the LIRR to slow any trains coming through the area.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and were back in service within 45 minutes.
