On Saturday December 12, 2015 Center Moriches Fire Department held its annual Holiday Parade of Lights along Main Street.

The Center Moriches Fire Department was joined by neighboring fire departments, EMS Squads as well as many community groups.

The Parade stepped off at 6:00 p.m. with the Center Moriches Firefighters leading the way.

With temperatures in the high 50’s the unusually warm weather made for a perfect night for family and friends to gather together and celebrate the holidays during one of Center Moriches great traditions.

It was the largest Parade of Lights in the history of the parade as thousands of people lined Montauk Hwy for as far as the eye could see.

Dozens of amazing colorful floats, Boy scouts, girl scouts, fire trucks and a cast of characters were just some of the participants in the parade which lasted just over an hour and a half.

Prior to the start of the parade our judges review over a dozen floats and award trophies to the "best" floats. During the parade the winners are announced and trophies are presented to them as they pass by the reviewing stand.

One of the night's big winners was Center Moriches own Keith Caputo and his "Helping Makes You Happy" Super Heroes Save Christmas float which won "Best Community Float".

Other awards were also handed out for:

Best Boy Scouts Float ..............Boy Scouts Pack 221
Best Cub Scouts Float ..............Cub Scouts Pack 221 Den 7
Best Fire / EMS Float ................East Moriches Community Ambulance
Best Appearing Fire Truck.........Ridge Fire Department
Best Overall Float .....................Holiday Beach Property Owners Association

Thanks to our judges who have the difficult job of reviewing so many great floats, as well as Suffolk County Police and Brookhaven Town for their outstanding support to our organization and our community. A special thanks goes out to the Middle Island FD and Sound Beach FD for providing stand by crews during our Parade of Lights.

On behalf of the officers and members of the Center Moriches Fire Department we would like to wish all of you a safe and happy holiday season….
