At 3:15 on Saturday Center Moriches Firefighters were requested to the report of a house fire on Bittersweet Lane.

While responding to the call firefighters were advised that 911 had received numerous calls reporting heavy smoke from the house.
Firefighters arrived on scene and found the attached garage of the 2 story home fully engulfed in flames.

While firefighters went to work extinguishing the fire, additional resources were called to the scene from East Moriches FD, Mastic FD, Eastport FD and the East Moriches Community Ambulance to assist the Center Moriches Firefighters. Manorville FD was also called to stand by at the Center Moriches firehouse to cover any other calls that might come in.

Firefighters had the fire under control within an hour. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshall's Office.
