Just after 11:30 Tuesday morning Center Moriches Firefighters were requested to assist the Brookhaven Fire Department at the scene of a structure fire on Merrick Road in Shirley.

CMFD was one of 7 departments that responded to assist the Brookhaven Firefighters. CM Firefighters responded to the scene with an engine and assisted with overhaul operations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation from the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshalls office and the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad.
