At 4:46 am Center Moriches Fire Department was alerted to an auto accident with injuries on Montauk Highway between Bay Pointe Drive and Cedar Avenue in Moriches.

Firefighters and EMS personnel arrived on scene and found a single vehicle struck a utility pole causing the pole and wires to come down in the roadway.

The 2 occupants of the vehicle were transported by Center Moriches FD Ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation. Montauk Hwy was shut down for several hours as the utility company worked to replace the broken pole.
