On Sunday January 26, 2020 local firefighters and EMS personal from the surrounding communities stood side by side with hundreds of community residents at a candlelight vigil for 8 year old Thomas Valva who died on January 17th .

Justyna Zubko-Valva the mother of Thomas Valva spoke at the candlelight vigil and thanked the community for coming out to support her little angel.

Following the vigil, Justyna, her mom, and the children came back to the Center Moriches Firehouse where the children were able to play on the firetrucks and spend some time with firefighters and EMT’s.

On Wednesday January 29th and Thursday January 30th, the Center Moriches Fire Department will open its doors and host a fundraising event for the Family of Thomas Valva and accept donations for the family. We will be collecting gift cards and monetary donations that will benefit Thomas’ immediate family. Donations will be accepted from 5pm to 8pm in the main meeting room on the 2nd floor.
