A 9/11 memorial service was held at the Center Moriches Fire Department Friday evening. The Center Moriches FD, East Moriches FD, as well as other community members, gathered to remember those who lost their lives in the September 11th terrorist attacks.

For the 1st time, services were broadcasted online to allow community members to watch safely from their homes. While the current pandemic made the ceremony different, the meaning was still the same.

A special thank you to Kiley Druek who sang the National Anthem, and Siol Na Heireann bagpipes, who filled the air with the sounds of "Amazing Grace" in a solemn tribute to those who died.

The September 11th anniversary has particular significance to the members of the Center Moriches FD, as our firefighters worked at the World Trade Center site alongside FDNY firefighters during the rescue efforts in 2001.

Our thoughts and prayers will always remain with our fallen FDNY brothers and all the families that lost love ones that day.

Never Forget
