For members of the Center Moriches Fire Department, water rescue training never ends.

Even though we are in the winter season, duck hunters and other winter fisherman are always out on the bay. Residents also take to the Ice in our local ponds to ice skate and take part in other winter activities.

This time of the year our training fucuses on cold water / ice rescue training.

Pool training allows our members to keep up their skills and practice rescue techniques while wearing a special type of dry suit that protects the rescue swimmer from hypothermia while immersed in ice cold water.

Members of the Center Moriches Fire Department Water Rescue Team are highly trained personnel who are ready to respond to any type of emergency on the water at a moment’s notice year-round.
