The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a Blizzard warning for our area from 7pm this evening until 7pm Saturday night. Heavy Blowing Snow with blizzard conditions are likely with snow accumulation of 18 to 24 inches.

Winds North 25 To 35 Mph with gusts up to 60 Mph are possible. Visibilities will be one quarter mile or less at times and whiteout conditions are expected.

The strongest winds and heaviest snow will occur Saturday morning into early Saturday afternoon. Heavy snow will make for dangerous driving conditions. In addition, the heavy snow and strong winds could bring down some tree limbs and cause scattered power outages.

Center Moriches Firefighters remind everyone when it is safe to do so, please take the time to shovel a 3 foot clearing around the fire hydrant located by your home or business. In the event of a fire or other emergency, these actions can save the firefighters valuable time, as well as it can save your life !
