For the second time in less than six weeks, a tractor-trailer struck the LIRR overpass on Montauk Highway at Wilcox Avenue. It was just after 4 pm, when firefighters and EMTs from the Center Moriches Fire Department were notified of the accident.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a tractor-trailer traveling west on Montauk Highway struck the LIRR overpass. Although the tractor remained undamaged, the trailer was crushed and leaning on its side.

Emergency personnel immediately evaluated the truck's occupant, who fortunately sustained no injuries.

Montauk Highway was closed for over four hours as crews worked to remove the truck from the roadway. The cause of the accident is under investigation by Suffolk County Police.
