| Tonight, the Center Moriches Fire Department proudly hosts our annual Holiday Parade of Lights, drawing thousands of spectators to downtown Center Moriches to cheer on community groups, fire departments, EMS agencies, and of course… Santa Claus! 🎅
To help everyone plan ahead, please review the important traffic and safety information below:
🅿️ NO PARKING – MAIN STREET • No parking on Main Street from Lake Avenue to Ocean Avenue during the parade • Temporary “No Parking” signs have been posted by Suffolk County Police • Vehicles parked after 3:00 PM will be towed by SCPD to a safe location
🚧 TRAFFIC & ROAD CLOSURES • 3:00 PM – Tow enforcement begins on Main Street • 5:00 PM – All southbound traffic on Lake Avenue will be stopped ➡️ Only northbound traffic permitted ➡️ Access Lake Avenue via Senix Avenue to Edwards Street • 5:30 PM – Montauk Highway will be shut down, with local detours in effect • 6:00 PM – Parade steps off!
👨👩👧👦 PEDESTRIAN SAFETY Barricades will be placed along the parade route to improve pedestrian safety and help manage crowds.
❄️ WEATHER REMINDER CMFD is closely monitoring this evening’s forecast. Cold temperatures are expected, so please dress warmly, wear layers, and ensure children and older adults are bundled appropriately. Current forecasts indicate rain / snow mix may begin after the parade concludes. Any decision regarding a postponement, if necessary, will be made by 1:00 PM this afternoon and communicated promptly.
🏠 RESIDENT ADVISORY Please complete errands earlier in the afternoon. Local roads will become heavily congested as the evening progresses. ➡️ Frowein Road (Moriches By-Pass) is recommended for drivers wishing to bypass the parade area.
🚑 EMERGENCY SERVICES In case of an emergency, please dial 911. Fire, EMS, and law enforcement units will be staged throughout the community and will maintain full access to all areas.
