| On Saturday evening, Main Street in Center Moriches came alive with holiday cheer as the Center Moriches Fire Department proudly hosted its annual Holiday Parade of Lights. This beloved tradition drew a large crowd and featured participation from more than 55 neighboring fire departments, EMS agencies, and local community groups truly showcasing the spirit of the season.
The parade stepped off at 6:00 p.m., led by the Center Moriches Fire Department. Despite the winter temperatures in the 30’s, families and friends lined Main Street, bundled up and ready to enjoy one of Center Moriches’ most cherished holiday traditions.
The parade featured an impressive lineup of participants, including Boy and Girl Scouts, marching bands, beautifully decorated fire and EMS apparatus, and festive floats that brought smiles and holiday cheer to spectators of all ages.
Prior to the parade, a panel of judges reviewed the entries and awarded trophies to the most outstanding displays. This year’s winners included:
• Best Overall Float: Shoreline Bulkheading • Best Daisy Troop Float: Daisy Troop 1948 • Best Girl Scout Float: Girl Scout Troop 2144 • Best Decorated Fire/EMS Apparatus: Yaphank Fire Department • Best Fire/EMS Float: Westhampton Beach Fire Department • Best Community Group Float: Center Moriches Unified Sports
Spectators eagerly awaited the highlight of the evening, Santa Claus’ arrival. And just as Santa made his way into town aboard a Center Moriches Fire Department truck, the snow began to fall, adding a magical touch to an already unforgettable night. The excitement on the children’s faces said it all as they waved, cheered, and welcomed Santa to Center Moriches.
We extend our sincere thanks to all the participants, whose creativity and dedication made this year’s parade such a success.
A special thank you to the Suffolk County Police Department, Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services, the Bohemia Fire Department, Miller Place Fire Department, Hampton Bay’s Ambulance and Medic-65 for their invaluable support in ensuring the safety of our community during the event.
On behalf of the officers and members of the Center Moriches Fire Department, we wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. Thank you for continuing to support this cherished tradition that brings our community together and captures the true magic of the holidays. |
