A winter storm is coming.

With heavy snow and extremely cold temperatures expected to impact our area starting Sunday, now is the perfect time to get ahead of the storm and make sure you, your family, and your home are ready. A few simple steps today can save you a lot of trouble once the snow and ice arrive.

During the storm, your Center Moriches Firefighters and EMS providers will be on standby. If you have an emergency, dial 911.

Here are some tips to help you prepare before the storm arrives:

✔️ 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀
Food, water, medications, batteries, flashlights, pet supplies—anything you may need if travel becomes difficult.

✔️ 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀
Keep an eye on local forecasts, emergency alerts, and road condition updates.

Phones, tablets, and power banks—get everything topped off before the storm.

✔️ 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗿𝘀
Especially seniors, anyone with medical needs, or anyone who may need help preparing.

✔️ 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗸𝗶𝘁
Include blankets, a phone charger, ice scraper, shovel, sand or kitty litter, extra medications, snacks, and a full tank of gas. Snow will move in quickly—slow down or stay home if possible.
