| Just before midnight, Center Moriches firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire on Railroad Avenue near Pete’s Path.
Upon arrival, crews found a single-story home with fire showing in the rear of the structure. Firefighters quickly went to work to contain the fire and prevent further extension.
Mutual aid to the scene included engines from Mastic Fire Department and Manorville Fire Department, East Moriches Fire Department for RIT, Manorville EMS with an ambulance, and Brookhaven Fire Department standing by at Center Moriches headquarters.
Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 40 minutes.
There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal’s Office and the Suffolk County Arson Squad. |
