Members of the Center Moriches Fire Department were proud to participate in the recent Job Fair at Center Moriches High School, where they had the opportunity to share valuable insight into the many career and volunteer opportunities available within the fire and emergency medical services fields.

The event gave students a chance to speak directly with department members about the responsibilities, training, and rewards that come with serving as a firefighter, EMT, or other first responder.

Students also learned how volunteering can provide benefits beyond public service, including eligibility for the Suffolk Educational Program for Retention in the Volunteer Emergency Services, known as SERVES.

Through this program, student volunteers may qualify for tuition reimbursement for their volunteer service, with benefits available for up to 120 lifetime credit hours at a New York State Education Department accredited college or university within Nassau or Suffolk County.

The department is grateful for the opportunity to connect with students, answer questions, and help inspire the next generation of firefighters and EMS providers. Outreach events like this are an important way to build awareness, encourage involvement, and show young people the many paths available through service to their community.

Thank you to Center Moriches High School for hosting this event and allowing us to be part of it. For more information on joining the Center Moriches FD click on the link: https://www.centermorichesfd.com/content/recruitment/
