| At approximately 2:05 pm on Sunday, Center Moriches Fire Department firefighters assisted the East Moriches Fire Department at a residential structure fire on Woodcut Drive.
East Moriches units arrived to find a single-story home with heavy fire in the garage. The East Moriches Chief activated the department’s pre-plan, bringing additional firefighters and resources from surrounding departments to the scene.
Center Moriches firefighters responded as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) standing by to provide immediate assistance to firefighters operating inside the structure if needed.
Firefighters brought the incident under control in approximately 90 minutes, and all mutual aid units were released shortly afterward.
No injuries were reported. The scene was turned over to the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal’s Office and the Suffolk County Police Department Arson Section for investigation. |
