Marine Incident Response Team (MIRT)
The Marine Incident Response Team (MIRT) is a specialized water rescue unit within the Center Moriches Fire Department, comprised of highly trained personnel dedicated to saving lives on and around the water. MIRT operates as a collaborative, multi-department team, bringing together trained members from six local fire departments to provide a unified and scalable response to water-related emergencies.
This regional partnership allows participating departments to share personnel, expertise, and specialized resources, ensuring effective coordination during complex incidents that extend beyond the capabilities of any single agency. Team members include Swift Water Rescue Swimmers, Surface Rescue Swimmers, Ice Rescue Technicians, certified Boat Operators, EMTs, and other skilled support personnel.
MIRT members train year-round to maintain operational readiness and respond to a wide range of emergencies, from inland waterways and Moriches Bay to offshore incidents in the Atlantic Ocean.

Support Boats
Through regional cooperation, specialized training, and mission-specific equipment, the Marine Incident Response Team provides a high-level, coordinated water rescue capability in service to the community whenever and wherever needed.
