The Center Moriches Fire Department's dive team took advantage of a beautiful day Sunday to do some training in the Moriches Bay about 1000' south of Holiday Beach.
Once on location, divers practiced their skills and search patterns to help maintain their comfort level.
Working in a systematic manner divers have to use their hands to feel around because of the poor visibility. Trainings like this helps keep divers skills sharp by training in conditions they are likely to be faced with in a real situation.
Divers were protected from the cold water by their dry suits. Currently the water temperature in the Moriches bay is about 60 degrees.
