| At 7:20 p.m. on Friday, the Center Moriches Fire Department was requested to respond to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Montauk Highway and Neville Street.
Emergency personnel arrived to find a two-car accident with one vehicle pushed into a utility pole. Due to damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools commonly known as the “Jaws of Life” to remove the driver’s side door and access the driver.
The driver was removed from the vehicle and transferred to a waiting ambulance then transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the second vehicle were uninjured and did not require medical attention.
Montauk Highway was closed for approximately 30 minutes while firefighters operated at the scene. |
