| This past weekend, two members of the Center Moriches Fire Department successfully completed the Surface Water Swimmer Course provided by the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control (NYSOFPC) and hosted by the Farmingdale Fire Department.
Over the two-day course, our firefighters participated in both classroom instruction and hands-on water rescue training. Training included assessing water conditions, rescue decision-making, proper personal protective equipment, water rescue techniques, swimmer operations, and watercraft usage.
With the successful completion of this course, these members will now join the Center Moriches Fire Department Water Rescue Team, which operates as part of the multi-agency Marine Incident Response Team.
The Marine Incident Response Team is made up of specially trained firefighters and EMS personnel from six local fire departments who work together to respond to water-related emergencies throughout our communities.
Congratulations to our newest Surface Water Rescue Swimmers on completing this challenging training and taking the next step in serving our community! |
